President's Message
Dear Friends:
It is a great pleasure to reach you through this personal message. The SFLHCC is a non-profit organization founded on July 21st, 1994 and is considered one of the largest and most influential Hispanic Chambers in the U.S. with over 1,600 members. Our monthly luncheons attract 300-450 guests and include a networking reception followed by a delicious lunch at The Biltmore Hotel that always features a panel discussion on topics of interest to our members. Our programs are representative of our community’s needs. The Minority Business Program has provided hundreds of small businesses with technical assistance and cash grants reaching over $160,000. Our Lunch/Learn Business Series features information on an array of topics to provide the necessary tools to our small business owners. Through our foundation, we have granted $1 million in scholarships to financially disadvantaged Hispanic students pursuing either a business, health or a tourism-related career. Our Education Enrichment Fellowship Program has provided financially disadvantaged minority students with the possibility of traveling out of state to attend a conference with top executives and entrepreneurs. These opportunities created are unique for a young student who is still undecided on what career to pursue in life. Thank you to our partner Southwest Airlines for being the main sponsor of our program that has awarded 190 fellowships in the last 16 years. We also thank TD Bank for its continued support to this program. Special appreciation to the teachers and faculty of Miami-Dade County Public School’s Academy of Business and Hospitality of which we are a “Champion.”
Thank you.
Liliam M. Lopez.
