The Legacy of Dolores Huerta



Impactful and Inspirational Women


Dolores Huerta is a prominent American labor leader and civil rights activist best known for co-founding the National Farmworkers Association alongside César Chávez. Her tireless advocacy has played a crucial role in fighting for workers' rights, leading to significant improvements in labor conditions. Huerta coined the iconic phrase "Sí, se puede" ("Yes, we can"), reflecting her unwavering commitment to social justice. Over the years, she has been recognized with numerous awards, including the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Her legacy continues to empower new generations in the fight for equality and empowerment.

An incredible evening unfolded at the Hearts in Rhythm event, where leadership, impact, and community were in the spotlight! Congratulations to South Florida Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Board Member Myrna Vaca and Chamber member Lesly Simon on winning the Stronger Together Award from Be Strong International. Our President, Liliam Lopez, was delighted to attend as a past honoree and lend her support.

Liliam M. Lopez, the President of the SFLHCC, recently graced the popular "Feast with the Beasts" event held at the iconic Miami Zoo; this vibrant gathering is one of the most anticipated charity events in South Florida, known for merging philanthropy with the rich tapestry of local culture and wildlife.


"Feast with the Beasts" is a culinary extravaganza where attendees enjoy various dishes from some of South Florida's top chefs. Paired with live entertainment and the enchanting backdrop of the zoo, the event offers a unique experience that celebrates the region's culinary prowess and natural beauty. The funds raised by the event are crucial in supporting zoo operations, conservation efforts, and educational programs.

An Unforgettable Evening when SFLHCC President Liliam M. Lopez had the honor of celebrating the 19th Anniversary Gala of the Adrienne Arsht Center, titled "Time After Time." The event took them on a nostalgic journey back to the vibrant '80s, reflecting on the beginnings of this remarkable institution. As a dedicated board member, Lily proudly supports the Arsht Center in its mission to inspire, entertain, and bring the arts to the heart of our community. The South Florida Hispanic Chamber of Commerce is equally proud to back such a vital cultural pillar that enriches lives through the power of performing arts. Here's to many more years of artistic brilliance!
