Let's Recap the SFLHCC Fashionably Red Panel

Discussion and Fashion Show

On Friday, February 21, the SFLHCC proudly held its Annual Fashionably Red Heart Disease Awareness Luncheon, marked by a captivating panel discussion. Emmy award-winner Maria Fernanda Lopez moderated the session, featuring esteemed experts including Dr. Jose Osorio of HCA Florida, Dr. Jose Lamelas of UHealth, Dr. Nicolas Brozzi from Cleveland Clinic, Dr. Yadira Martinez of Nicklaus Children's Hospital, and Dr. Sophia Horvath Adam of Mount Sinai, along with a moving testimony from Ana Sotorrio.

The event concluded with a dazzling fashion show by Miami International Mall, which included stores like Macy’s, Rio by Design, Camile, Victoria’s collection, Rose, and Oro Turquesa, and brands YSL and Armani, elegantly modeled by the Hispanic Women's Society Network. Our heartfelt thanks to the presenting sponsor, HCA Florida, and title sponsor, UHealth, along with all other sponsors and attendees, for making the event a success.

SFLHCC's President Liliam M. Lopez at FIU in DC

This week, the vibrant heart of the South Florida Hispanic Chamber of Commerce beats stronger as President Liliam M. Lopez takes on Washington, D.C., with an inspiring mission in mind. In a city where history and innovation intersect, Lily is championing the next generation by connecting with the students of the Alternative Break Program and influential executive personnel at Florida International University (FIU) in D.C.

An "alternative break program" is a college student initiative where students spend their school break, typically spring break, participating in community service projects at a location away from campus, often focused on a specific social issue, allowing them to learn about different communities and engage in meaningful reflection through hands-on service while developing leadership skills.

Her visit is symbolic and a testament to her unwavering commitment to fostering educational and professional opportunities for the Hispanic community. By engaging with tomorrow's leaders, Lily is planting seeds of inspiration and ambition, demonstrating that dreams can transcend into reality with the proper support.
