Elevate Together
Elevate Together, a partnership between Office Depot, the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and the South Florida Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, supports small businesses with grants, resources, and mentorship. At an October 23 ceremony on Coral Way, $60,000 in $5,000 grants was awarded, adding to the $210,000 distributed over five years. This initiative promotes diversity, inclusivity, and economic growth, showcasing the power of collaboration in empowering entrepreneurs and strengthening communities.
Lunch / Learn Series for Businesses
The SFLHCC puts together luncheons for the purpose of education and assisting its members with different topics that may be of interest to them. Financial Planning, Health & Wellness, Telecommunications and many other topics are addressed quarterly during a lunch/learn sponsored by a member company.
Education Enhancement Program
The SFLHCC through its foundation provides from 10-12 local students with an opportunity to enhance their education by participating in an essay contest. The winners of the contest are taken on an all-expense paid trip outside of Florida in a partnership with Southwest Airlines.
Scholarship Program Through the SFLHCC Foundation
The SFLHCC implemented a scholarship program soon after its foundation. It saw the need to provide opportunities to Hispanic students enrolled in the Academy of Hospitality and Tourism of Miami-Dade County Public Schools. In the last 18 years, 98 scholarships have been granted. The SFLHCC Foundation is a 501(c) (3) organization. Paid internships are also provided for students that qualify for the program.
Hospitality
The SFLHCC receives hundreds of calls from tourists from the U.S. and abroad concerning hotel referrals, restaurants, local attractions, etc. Through the Hospitality Committee, the chamber handles inquiries and puts together information to mail to tourists.
Annual Toy Drive Benefitting Centro Mater and Miami Rescue Mission's Center for Women and Children
The SFLHCC sponsors an annual toy drive during the Holiday season that benefits Centro Mater and the MRM’s Center for Women and Children. What began years ago as a toy drive became a drive for everything imaginable. Trucks full of hygiene products, clothes and toys are delivered to the Center during the Holidays.
Referrals
The South Florida Hispanic Chamber has a referral service to its members for attorneys, CPAs, banks, realtors, title, companies, etc. at no cost and with significant reduction in fees when done through the chamber.
Newsletter / Website
The SFLHCC publishes a monthly e-newsletter “The Scene to be Seen” with chamber news and updates. The SFLHCC’s Website is also an excellent tool to promote your business. With over 70,000 visits per month, our website provides valuable information for the members of the organization and to those new to the area.
